Unable to walk to the start of the Queen Charlotte Track we took a ferry. I was Captain for the trip. We had only five other passengers, three of whom where from the Isle of Wight!!
I think that the pictures say it all. Summer seemed to arrive....
I returned to my tent to discover there had been a visitor and my smarties were no where to be found!! Wekas are brown birds about the same size as a chicken and they are so cheeky they steal everything.
On our first night on the South Island we were quite surprised to hear how different the forest sounds were.
Wow what a lunch spot. Sadly I had to move into the shade! On the third day of the QCT the grey skies returned
