The next morning we set off to see if we could get over the Travers Saddle unsure as to how much snow there would be. As it turned out there was less snow on the side that we were climbing up and rather more as we decended. At times we were thigh deep. I had waterproof trousers but Madeleine just had her thermals!!

Its getting deep!! Within a few short hours we were desending from the snow and heading for the green forests below.    |
