More rain

The weather has deteriorated again although I had mostly wet nights and dryish days when I reached Huntly in the pouring rain bound for the hills of the Hakarimata Scenic Reserve where the views are are supposed to be nice I opted for a road walk into Ngaruawahia.

I stayed with Peter who is a friend of the TA and allows people to camp on his lawn. Kaldeep and Charlie stayed with him earlier this year and I was the third TA tramper to accept his kind offer of hospitality. Peter is a keep tramper himself and he had some great magazines that have just been published with articles about the TA. It poured with rain that night and I felt justified in not heading to the hills.
