Arrived in New Zealand

Arrived in Auckland pretty much on time which was great. Spend just two days in the capital buying a few last minute things like a sun hat and GPS maps. Met up with a guy who walked the trail last year and another woman who has walked sections of the trail. It was really useful to have their insight.

When the word spread in the hostel that I was setting off to walk the length of New Zealand people started looking at me a bit odd and it was time to head north to begin....

We've been waiting to hear from you. Can't wait to hear how the 90 mile beach goes. Sounds promising if you need a sunhat! Keep us posted!

A heartening fact to help you enjoy the first few days - 90 mile beach isn't 90 miles long, its only 90kms! You'll be back in Auckland before you know it.

90 mile beach looks fantastic and I know you will enjoy the challenge ahead, unlike me who would just want to lie down on it:-) Well done you, can't wait to hear the next instalment
