Our 11th day was a well earned rest day, in the town of Kerikeri. We brought lots of food, checked into a motel with a hot tub and walked very little.
Oddly enough there is a lot to do on a rest days. Washing all your clothes and I mean all your clothes (The strategy is to have a towel morning. While our clothes wash and dry we sit around the motel/hostel in our towels. We get a few odd looks but when we explain people find it amusing.) Tents have to be dried and cleaned out, sleeping bags aired, supplies brought and plans made for the next section of the walk.
