Burttons and Mangahao-Makahika tracks

We got a lift back to where we needed to re-join the Te Araroa trail and soon found ourselves back on a pretty bush track, trying to spot orange markers, scrambling over fallen trees and crossing streams in the rain.  A typical trail day.

I was doing all that I could to keep my new boots dry, balancing on rocks as I crossed the streams at the risk of falling in but it was an impossible mission.  The first time I felt my boots fill with water I almost cried!

These tracks were very scenic and I feel that they captured the essence of the Te Araroa on the North Island.
