We then hitched the 5kms into the small settlement of Arthur's Pass to collect the first of our food parcels. we arrived around lunch time so luxuriated in a half day of rest.
The sun was out the sky was blue and it felt great! There are just two cafes a hostel and a few houses in the settlement.
